All the various objects, intricate constructions, large-scale sets, and in some instances the elaborate installations, are meticulously built with the primary goal of documentation serving as the final step in the creative process. Most of what I create is inherently temporary in nature; for instance, octopus has a bizarrely awful smell that becomes especially pronounced after just a few hours. Over time, things inevitably fall apart and sculptures unfortunately crumble. The constructive purpose of the camera serves not only to document but also to record and finalize the intention of the work, transforming the ephemeral into something more lasting. The original thing has now become a new thing altogether; the photograph of that original thing has become yet another distinct entity. The photograph is now evidence of a constructed moment of things once put together.

* All creatures were dead before I handled them. They fall into three categories; seafood bought at food markets, bait sold in stores, and actual dead fish I asked employees at pet stores to scoop out/save for me(it's good to make friends in odd places). Art is a fantasy and therefore many pieces of work are not actually real but artified. Thank you.
